Speaking exam Tuesday, 2nd December 08

Jupee the speaking is over. I’m so happy about this. Now we have just a week left before I’ll fly back to Switzerland. After the speaking exam Diana and I went to the cinema as we reckon that it was to hot even worse sticky outside. We watched the new movie Australia. I am a little diappointed about the content. It was an american kitsch for me. Nevertheless, it was to long anyway.

Xavier Rudd Konzert in Kuranda Saturday, 22nd 2008

Kuranda was great for me. Although, the village self is nothing special, it was more then worth to go there. I Diana and Judith caught the railway train at two in the afternoon. I expected nothing enormous though it was amazing to see the rainforest from above. The landscape with the stream was great to watch. Unfortunately, it was so a hot and wet day. Not to mention, we were wet and sticky all the time. By the time we arrived in Kuranda all shops, market, butterfly or Kuala zoo was already closed. However, for us girls were this nothing to worry about. Quite simply, we were enjoying an coffee while talking in the next cafe.

At seven started the concert and it was wonderful. The performance was open air, the called them an empitheatre although it was just a hill with grass. However, the atmosphere was fantastic, everybody was shaking, like in a big family was the feeling. Xavier Rudd looks like an typical Australian guy for me. He mixed the Didgeridoo together with pop or more rock music. moreover, I could follow to his guitar performance together with clear english very well. It is really a shame that I didn’t look for a CD at the concert. Lastly, I am a big fan from Xavier Rudd now.

Cheerio

Hi everybody

It is already Tuesday. I had had my rehearsal for the FCE exam and I’ve not really a feeling how it is going on. I guess just so so.

Last Thursday we went to the cinema and we watched James Bond. I mention that I liked that movie not only because of the good James Bond actor but also I liked the different performance places as well as the wide range of languages which were listened in this movie. Of course, I didn’t like that much action scene which were a touch to much in it. After the movie everybody from us caught his bike except Martin his bike was disappeared. So that I Diana and Judith walked with him to the centre for a drink.

On Friday I and Diana went to the casino as we heart that there were a band called the Australian Bee Gees. And It wasn’t just a joke they looked really similar and sounded like the real one. Later on, Jack joined us and we went into the casino to drink a coffee. One reason was the music from the Bee Gees was too loud as well as there was so crowded of sweating people. You guys can believe me, here it is incredible hot and even worse is the humid. By the time we had drunk our coffee Sam, Jacks share mate, arrived. Sam is an typical Australian guy and so he likes party’s and even more beer. So you can image, he wasn’t thrilled that we preferd coffee more than beer. Sam accused to drink coffee was Jacks idea. Sam didn’t believed me that it wasn’t the idea from the korean guy. Actually, it was my fault!  ;-)  Indeed, everybody who knows me is sure that it was my idea to drink coffee in a casino. Even though, I wasn’t ashamed!!! However, we tried to dance in this packed Bee Gee Konzert. What’s more, I took a lot of picture together with Jack. It was so funny.

The next time I’ll write about Saturday up in Kuranda and my new favorite singer Xavier Rudd. I’m now a big fan from him.

fondest regards

Corinna

On Sunday I met Jack in front of the bus station in he took me with him to the Rosty Market. At the Rosty Market you can buy any kind of fruit or vegetable which you ever image. Needless to say, that I bought some fresh fruit though I prefer the delicious mangos. I took any picture as well. It was just an amazing for me such a market. Afterwards, I met Judith and Manuela for a coffee in our customary ”Coffee Club”.

We went out, Saturday, 8 November 2008

After a relaxed day at home by studying, reading a novel and swimming in the pool I meet Diana in the city at 8.00 p.m. The climate is now quit hot so that I arrived the cairns centre wet after my 20 min bicycle riding.

At first, we went to the ‘Emu bar’, in which we feel us very well. Diana and I enjoyed our general coffee at begin. Actually, the pubs calls ”Rathel and hunts” or somethings similar.

In the men toilet is a enormous window, where the mens can admire what’s going on outside the public whereas the people outside focus just the normal wall.

Later on, I and Diana went further to the Rainobar. I admit that I don’t feel me so well in this bar because the music is so laud though in the most pub’s in Cairns they use to play the stereo that laud. It is unbelievable. Fact is, I love my ears.

While we were talking tree times came drunken guys over and always turned out that they where locals. Indeed, In my opinion this sort of guys were grubby. What is really special because this Rainobar was crowded from tourists and backpackers. However, at 1.00 a.m. I went home by bike at it was not fair because even as I leave the Cairns center It have been starting to rain and I got so wet in this downpour. Although I got wet like I was swimming in the pool the environment had a touch of romantic.

Cheereio …

A usual morning here in Cairns Saturday, 8 November 2008

It is really a shame but I can’t sleep that long In the morning. Well, I stood up like usual before 6.00 a.m. very early. I had my usual breakfast, which contains cereals and jammy foods like mango, pineapple, star apple, passionfruit and last but not least my favour breakfast fruit paw paw.

Wait a minute, I’ll look up what’s the real name for ‘paw paw’. Actually, I found a great webside, in which you see the various fruits here as well as the landscape and the typical houses here.

http://www.capetrib.com.au/papaya.htm

And this Sunday I’ll go well then whit my friend Jack to the well-known fruit and vegetable market, which calls ‘Rusty Market’

After my breakfast I have usual a swim in the pool or just a short run in the park, where are as well some mango trees and star apple trees.

I am endless jealous for the many fresh fruits the Queenslander have! :-]

And the bananas and pineapple smell so by fare better here than in Switzerland.

See you later

Corinna

But now I prefer to swim the fantastic pool because the wetter is now really humid and hot here.

Movie time, Friday, 7 November 2008

Friday night I watched my first movie. I was alone at home. Diana and John went out to the old tanks, in which they use to give some concerts. And Peter the old friend from Diana went down the cost to visit a other friend. I am really lucky that Peter is away because he is so an old grubby man. (this aren’t me words this is what Diana is use to say!  ;-) Mainly, because I have to share the bathroom with him. Unfortunately, he’ll come back for an other couple of days. When Diana goes down to Brisbarne he wanted to look after me. Yucki, I don’t need a babysitter. To my luck, Diana think the same and she is sick about him. So, I’ll stay alone for this five days. Diana have to go down to Brisbarne because Hamish her son will have his graduation from the Highschool. By the way she will then visit her daughter Fleure and hers family. Dianas son is just 17 years wherase her daughter is already 32 years. Fleure has a little girl, who is 2 years, her name is Sommer and she is so cute.

Upsala, though, I want tell you about my movie evening. Well actually, it wasn’t that special I watched just Harry Potter and I was soo prouded about me that I could follow the most part of the movie. :-)

cheers

Car accident!!

Hello everybody

The streets in Cairns are definitely not the safest in Australia, though I never have been in a other city in Australia.

I just tell you this because yesterday Judith a classmate had an accident with a car in a roundabout. Although, it was not that bad, the ambulance was coming and picked her up for a check.

Now she is at home. Hopefully she’ll be back soon in the school. Get well soon, Judith!

This evening I tried a delicious sushi wrap. The roll was fresh from the Japan restaurant.

Must dash now.

Melbourne Cup Tuesday 4 October 08

When a nation hold his breath!!! This was the headline from The Cairns Post this morning. Every year on the first Tuesday in November the Melbourne Cup carry out. And really it is an amazing to see how in the whole country Australia the people stop working for the huge horse race Melbourne Cup. Indeed, our class hat the afternoon off to go to the pub Dunnwhoolies and watch the race on a big screen, even more we bet a few money.

I made a bet for the winning horse and my choice was Nr. 4 and 12. Indeed, 12 won the second place and 4 the third. Unfortunately, I didn’t won anything because I bet just for the winner.

But we bet as well in the school between my classmates  and there I won 5.00 Dollars. Jupee. I offered a coffee round for Diana, Judith and Martin at the Coffee Club in Cairns Central.

And Kuranda is still on my list to see. ;-0

Sleep well.

At home 1/2 November 08

This Weekend I did nothing special. On Saturday morning I went to some extra lessons though I was very disappointed about this lessons. Maybe I am spoilt with my two teacher Chris and Mara. After than I have been shopping with Helyme a classmate she is from Korea. I bought some souvenir by the pier shopping center. When I came home, Diana and her boyfriend John were sitting in the garden. Diana showed me the hugs green frog in the garden. He was terrific. I made a lot of picture from the old but enormous frog.
